Cam Backes
Co-Founder and CEO

Cameron Backes

Before co-founding neuroaide, Cam served as co-founder and CEO of Stronger Brains, a digital platform focused on improving children’s neurocognitive processes that has helped over 3,000 children with ADHD, dyslexia and related difficulties. Cam holds both Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University. As a member of Stanford's Memory Lab, his Master’s research contributed to a Nature publication exploring the relationships between memory, attention, and media multitasking.

Outside of building neuroaide, Cam enjoys spending time with good people, exploring the outdoors, and reading.

David Joo
Co-Founder

David Joo

Prior to co-founding neuroaide, David was a co-founder and co-CEO of Knowre, an education technology company. Knowre, which was started in 2012 and sold in 2018, was a K12 supplemental math curriculum focused on a providing personalized learning experience for students around the world.  David has a bachelor's degree in Biology from Carleton College.  

When not in building-mode, he enjoys cooking, playing tennis and golf, and spending time with his wife and two children.  

David Porrino

David Porrino

David Porrino, Psy.D., is a clinical neuropsychologist and licensed psychologist who is the director of the diagnostic testing services program at Sasco River Center, with multiple locations throughout Fairfield County, CT. He performs neuropsychological and multidisciplinary evaluations with children, adolescents, and adults in order to identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses, assist in differential diagnosis, and formulate recommendations to inform treatment, educational, and vocational planning. Dr. Porrino’s primary areas of interest and expertise include the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders, medical and neurological conditions, and acquired brain injuries. He also greatly enjoys providing consultation to parents and school districts. Dr. Porrino oversees the diagnostic testing program at Sasco River Center and supervises evaluations performed by the center’s postdoctoral fellows and early career evaluators.

Dr. Porrino received his Bachelor of Arts from Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania and earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Antioch University in New Hampshire, with a concentration in clinical neuropsychology. He completed his predoctoral internship at the Mount Sinai Medical Center with a focus in neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy with individuals with acquired neurological disease, comorbid mood/anxiety disorders, and related areas of difficulty. Dr. Porrino completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology at Inspire Wellness, LLC in New Jersey, where he received extensive training in neuropsychological assessment of varied neurodevelopmental, medical, and psychological presentations. He has also completed clinical rotations at centers such as the Neurological Institute at Columbia University Medical Center, the Child Mind Institute, and Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center.

When not at work, Dr. Porrino is usually spending time with his wife, two young children, and two dogs. He enjoys outdoor activities with his family, exercising, and playing golf.

Caryl Frankenberger

Caryl Frankenberger is the Executive Director of Frankenberger Associates Learning Solutions Center, a leader in personalized education services since its founding in 1987. With over 35 years of experience, Caryl has helped countless families better understand their child’s cognitive and educational profiles. A master clinician and psychoeducational diagnostician, Caryl has dedicated her life to creating customized learning programs for students with complex learning profiles, such as ADHD, ASD, learning disabilities, and executive function
challenges.

At Frankenberger Associates, Caryl leads a team of expert coaches who specialize in executive function coaching, social learning programs, and cognitive training. Under her guidance, the organization has developed a reputation for offering innovative, highly individualized services that help children, teens, young adults, and adults not only succeed academically but thrive in life. Partnering with schools and organizations has always been a passion of Caryl’s and has culminated in an online Understanding Diverse Learning Profiles course, designed for all lifelong learners.

Caryl holds a B.S. from Lesley University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Throughout her career, she has held numerous leadership roles; she was the Executive Director of the Fisher Landau Foundation, where she oversaw the development of language-based learning programs at Dalton and Collegiate schools, and the Head of The Greenwood School. She has also served on advisory boards such as Haskins Laboratory and the Independent Educational Consultants Association and is an advisor to neuroaide. Caryl is a recognized expert in the field of learning disabilities and has given over 200 professional presentations nationwide.

When not working, Caryl enjoys spending time with her family, including her two sons, husband and their beloved dog, Macy. She enjoys, daily exercise, reading, and being with friends.
